Governmentwide Treasury Account Symbol Adjusted Trial Balance Reporting System (GTAS)

Description:

GTAS is a financial management system that will replace FACTS I, FACTS II, IFCS and IRAS as the primary means of reporting agency trial balance data to FMS beginning in January 2013. Trial balances that will be submitted in GTAS must pass a series of validations and edits in order for agencies to certify the data. This course will help agencies become familiar with the GTAS requirements including the bulk file format, the Super Master Account File (SMAF), validation rules and edits.

The major topics include:
The course is scenario-based.

  • In-depth discussion of SMAF data elements, bulk file format, GTAS attribute table validations and edits.
  • Journalize accounting events, prepare an adjusted trial balance, determine if the adjusted trial balance passes the validations and edits for a couple of Treasury Account Symbols.
  • Working in teams is encouraged.

Who should attend:

Students should be federal accountants with a good working knowledge of the USSGL who prepare reports for Treasury and OMB (FACTS I and II ).
