The Kansas City Regional Financial Center (KFC) was established in 1935 as a disbursing office for the Bureau of the Fiscal Service (Fiscal Service), a bureau of the Department of the Treasury. Almost eighty years later, KFC is one of two Regional Financial Centers. Known within the Bureau as the Payment Center of Excellence, KFC is now responsible for 100 percent of the processing of Treasury-disbursed payments, both domestic and international, including printing and mailing responsibilities. The disbursement of public monies, via paper check, is now split between KFC and its sister site, the Philadelphia Financial Center (PFC). In addition to shared mailing services, PFC is also responsible for all post payment functions.
